Camping Shenandoah River State Park

Yesterday, under the mistaken notion that we were going to get two tenths of an inch of rain at Shenandoah River State Park, Ken and I arrived under threatening skies and efficiently set up the camp, and set out for a quick walk.

We enjoyed the walk, about 2 or 3 miles long, which got quicker and quicker as the skies suddenly grew darker and windier. We ran the last several feet in a total deluge, struggled to unlock the door quickly and all of us competed to be the first one in… I think the dog won!

Whew!

The rain poured for at least an hour… And I’m sure we got well over an inch of rain! It was our first heavy rain in the camper and thankfully no leaks.

Quite cozy!

I enjoyed reading the Ron Pace book of dog training and Mother Angelica’s biography… While Ken and Moki napped. 🙂

sometime later I realized that I had forgotten to pack anything to cook the dinner in, so off to Front Royal for Chinese take out.

By then the skies began to clear:
